THIS WEEKS ARTIST - LIVE!!! - Kid Named Breezy

HIS BIO

In Hip-Hop, paying it forward is about continuing a legacy of musicianship that represents an authentic voice of the people; and for Virginia bred emcee, Breezy, whose mantra is “speak with purpose” that is precisely what he intends to do. Young Bradley Hunt was raised in the small city of Alexandria Va. At the age of 14 months, he suffered the tragic loss of his mother at the hands of a drunk driver. Raised by his father, a self made entrepreneur, Breezy remembers those early lean years with his father as playing in intricate role in formulating his love for music. Long car rides listening to his dad’s live band CD’s and then favorite rapper, Will Smith, planted the seeds that would grow into a skilled passion.

At the age of 11 Breezy discovered his gift of poetry. His capacity to marry words and emotions caught the eye of an author who wanted to publish the writings of the young scribe in a book, but the Breezy thought nothing of it. By the age of 15 his love of words had transcended to music and he began writing songs. Currently in his first year of college, his natural ability as a ball player has kept him busy and kept his name on the lips of scouts at colleges including Stanford, Rutgers, St. Johns and several others. For Breezy, however, a college basketball career is somewhat of a plan B as the burning in his spirit beats in RPM’s and he can’t deny his desire to want to do music.

As a student and adherent of all genres of music, his conscious was touched as he began to find his own voice by learning from the essence of those he admires like Tupac, Nas, Tribe Called Quest, The Fresh Prince, and Jay Z. At a young age the humility of being raised by a self made man taught the young visionary how to appreciate the life that hard work has afforded, but more importantly the lessons that come with the struggle. “I don’t feel like a lot of the music that is out now can be considered what’s fundamentally known as Hip-hop” Breezy explains “I feel like a lot of people just use it to make a quick buck and aren’t concerned with delivering a message. I want to make music that says something and speaks to people. I want the message in my music to far out live my physical life.”

His debut mixtape, Snap Back With a Life Full, features features by Pusha T and Black Cobain. "Pusha T (the Clipse) showed me love because of their relationship with Tony Draper and it's big to have a vet like him working with me on my project." However, Breezy isn’t keen on having any other features on his project until he establishes himself a little more in the game. Now, as he prepares for his new tape entitled '93', KNB will embark on a new journey of his music. The stepping stone was placed, but now the stairs have to be built.

When it comes to his music Breezy wants to leave the listener with a feeling and something to think about so he makes the conscious decision to remain reflective and relevant without sounding preachy. “ Everything that glitters isn’t gold and sometimes people tend to think that when it comes to living the life of a rock star. I make feel good music because music is a healer. I want my fans to enjoy life and ride the struggles out knowing that joy is on the other side if you just continue the journey.”

THIS WEEKS ARTIST - LIVE!!!

HIS BIO

Chris White, better known as the artist, C. Envy, is a native of the Bronx, New York.  He was raised in Mount Vernon, on South Columbus Avenue.  His father, Christopher White, also known as Cross, was part of a group called “2nd Look”, with partner Mike.  Chris would attend his father’s rehearsals from time to time.

Envy joined a band called the Renaissance E.M.S. Band through a non-profit program called Renaissance E.M.S.  He traveled all around New York performing and raising money for the program. In the summer of 2011 the band went on an inner city tour throughout the five boroughs, where we did 72 shows in two months.  After the tour, Envy decided to quit the youth band to start his solo career.  He sang, rapped and anything else that made him happy as an artist, such mixing genre's and sounds together and writing music that talk to people's emotions.

Envy has more than 200 shows under his belt and he is looking to keep adding on to his experience, learning as much as he can as an artist.  Envy started a team called 806 Entertainment to help him reach his goal. The name 806 is a dedication to his teammates, Venee and Gringo, dead brother Ron aka Venesula who was a professional boxer with a record of 8 wins, 0 losses, 6 KO's before he died. Envy plan's on being the best artist to ever come from Mount Vernon next to Heavy D.  Envy knows he has some big shoes to fill and he's looking forward to see if he can fill them.

Tune In December 17, 2012

Monday, December 17th at 10:00 join me, DJ Shan, and my co-host Black Cesar as we bring you yet addition of ON DECK! live from two spots:

BlogTalk Radio: http://tobtr.com/s/4034719

and streaming live on www.allniteradio.com

We are all about the independent artist, the unsigned artist.  The artist who is on the brink of taking that plunge into the unknown.  Standing right on the edge, toes curled over, eyes closed, waiting to take that leap of faith to get their music heard.  We are also about providing that information to assist up and coming new artists with finding the outlet to showcase their talent.

If you are a new artist and you think you got "it", submit your music and we will play it.  If you are really good, you will make the rotation on AllNite Radio.  Our primary focus is R&B, Soul and Hip Hop, but, we have showcased spoken word and those artists that fight to not be labeled in any one box of music.

The internet is a wonderful blank canvas for artist to paint a vivid portrait of who they are and what they want to relay to their audience.  So many resources are available for these artist to have mini showcase of their music.  Sites like MySpace are catering to music artists and allow them to offer their followers a change to hear what they are putting out.  You have the social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Reverbnation where you can instantly provide your music to a larger audience than ever before.  You don't have to peddle your wares from the trunk of your car; the internet is your own personal store front.

THIS WEEK FROM BLACK CESAR

Being an artist focused on every aspect of music creation, Black Cesar is an artist's artist.  He is always looking for ways to help improve and help artists to be able to showcase themselves to get the most out of their talents.

SHAN'S ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Each week I will be searching the net looking for that artist that catches my eye.  Sometime they will be good, sometime they might be comical, but they will always be my pick of the week and we will highlight them a bit on the show if time permits.  This week I ran across this dude while I was searching for something else actually.  Never ever heard of this dude before.  His look kinda reminded me of Donell Jones, just a tinky winky bit.  He has I sound that I deem iPod worthy for the most part.  Below is a bit of his bio:

In the world of music, there are great singers, talented songwriters, amazing producers, wonderful stylists and great performers who are at the top of the game, but it is a rare thing to find all of those mentioned embodied in one person. However, Oshy is an extraordinary R&B artists who possesses those qualities.

Oshy, who was born Thomas Byrd, discovered the art of singing and songwriting, while watching his father rehearse, record, and perform. His childhood hadn't always been easy and he had watched family members and too many people he knew get lost or taken by the streets. Oshy wanted more and he knew that what one achieves was completely a reflection of what one puts into it…and he put in all he had.

FINALLY WEEKLY THOUGHTS

While you young and talented, or old and not so talent artists realize that, yes, the internet is a great place be seen.  it seems like you are only excited about it for a small moment in time.  So when someone like me goes to your site and see you promoting your "new" album and the date is 2009; not a good look.  Keep your pages fresh and up to date.  Even if you have not done anything since Jesus was a baby, put something on there that reflects a change has been made more recent than a year ago.  If you don't have anything since 2009, maybe you just aren't relevant anymore.  If I pull old music of your page and then you tell me something like "You don't have my latest album?"  My come back will be "Oh, your website is not updated, then why is it even up?"...*raised left eyebrow*  Yes I went there, all in your face.

I am also going to take my advise to keep this blog fresh and up to date with the shows.  Make sure you keep tuning in to ON DECK! to see what new artists we will showcase.
